Strawberry Crumble: The First Summer Dessert Made with Fresh Berries
Crumble, translated from English, means “crumb”, which is the main feature of this dessert. And the basis of any crumble is berries or fruits.
Minimal preparation time is a definite plus for this delicious summer treat!
This dessert can be prepared in small portioned molds (ceramic, silicone, foil) or in a large container, but then it must be served separately to each guest, since crumble is ideally served in portions.
Ingredients
We will need (for two servings):
- 300 g strawberries + a little sugar if the strawberries are a bit sour
For the crumbs:
- 100g butter (cold)
- 1.5 cups of flour
- 0.5 cups of sugar
- baking soda on the tip of a knife (do not extinguish)
Let's start cooking
Wash the strawberries, drain, remove the sepals, and chop into pieces, but not too finely. Grease a baking dish or molds with butter, place the strawberries in, and sprinkle with a little sugar.
In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, sugar and diced butter with your hands.
The butter needs to be firm, so don't take it out of the refrigerator ahead of time. This is one of the conditions for the crumble to be successful.
All ingredients must be rubbed by hand to form a crumbly mass.
Spread the crumble topping over the berries. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes, until the top layer of crumble topping is golden brown.
Serve the finished dessert warm, but it's also delicious cold! Eat this delicacy with a spoon, large or small, depending on your appetite. Offer a scoop of ice cream or a glass of milk with the warm crumble.
Pour melted (grated) chocolate over the cherry crumble before sprinkling the crumbs. It's delicious!
