Charlotte with apple and cottage cheese is perhaps one of the surefire options in terms of preserving flavor and adding healthy ingredients. Almost everyone knows about the benefits of cottage cheese, a calcium-rich fermented milk product, so why not combine a classic recipe with this ingredient? Let's give it a try!

Dessert recipe

  1. Remove the butter from the refrigerator, cut it into small pieces and grind it with a third of the sugar until the mixture turns white.
  2. Add cottage cheese and another third of sugar, and mix everything thoroughly again.
  3. Add the yolks, previously separated from the whites, to the curd mixture and mix again.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with the remaining third of the sugar until medium-thick foam forms. Pour the foam into the cottage cheese and yolk mixture and mix.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the pre-sifted flour with baking powder. The recipe allows for baking soda to be substituted, so if you happen to be out of baking powder but have baking soda and vinegar, you can dissolve ½ teaspoon of baking soda in vinegar and stir it into the curd mixture immediately before adding the flour.
  6. Carefully, spoon by spoon, add flour and baking powder to our mixture and mix well so that the resulting dough does not contain lumps.
  7. Set the dough aside, preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius, and begin peeling the apples. Quarter them, remove the cores, and cut into thin slices or small cubes. To ensure the apples and curds blend perfectly, it's best to peel them, but if you don't have time or prefer the apples with the skins on, you can leave them on.
  8. Immediately mix the apples and the curd part so that the apples do not have time to darken.
  9. Lightly grease a baking pan and immediately pour the batter into it. Bake the charlotte in the oven for about half an hour.

If desired, you can sprinkle the finished pie with cinnamon or powdered sugar, or serve it with a scoop of ice cream after cutting it. This recipe is quite simple, the dough is relatively smooth, and the tartness of the cottage cheese is perfectly noticeable.

For those who want to enjoy charlotte, but for some reason are looking for a flour-free recipe, there is an even simpler and easier way to prepare this dish.

Ingredients

  • Egg - 1 pc.
  • Cottage cheese 250 gr.
  • Sugar – 200 g (less than a full glass)
  • Butter – 100 gr.
  • Semolina – 200 gr.
  • Apples - 3 pcs (large)

Every recipe I found online suggests sprinkling peeled apples with lemon juice, but it's easiest to peel them after the dough has been mixed, eliminating the need for an extra ingredient and extra work.

Recipe for making dessert:

  1. Melt the butter on the stove or in the microwave.
  2. Beat the egg with sugar, then add melted butter to this mixture and mix thoroughly.
  3. After this, gradually add cottage cheese to the mixture and mix until smooth.
  4. Carefully and gradually add the semolina, mixing thoroughly. You can add vanilla if desired.
  5. Let the bowl sit, letting the semolina soften slightly, then preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and begin peeling the apples. For a more attractive finish, you can slice them thinly and then arrange them in a circle.
  6. Arrange the peeled apples in a greased pan (or arrange them in a more convenient way) and carefully pour in the batter. If you're using wedges, it's best to add a little batter after each circle, continuing until you've used up all the apples, then pour the remaining batter on top of the final apple circle.
  7. Place the pie in the oven for approximately 30-40 minutes. The pie should be golden brown, but be careful not to burn it.

As you can see, this recipe is easy to prepare and will undoubtedly appeal to all lovers of charlotte, apples, and cottage cheese!
