Strawberry Pie: A Truly Summer Dessert
Content
Strawberries are a ready-to-eat and incomparably delicious dessert. Fresh berries aren't always easy to find. Frozen ones, however, are available everywhere. And that means there are absolutely no obstacles that prevent you from preparing the most delicious frozen strawberry pie.
Queen of berries
Strawberries have long been recognized as the undisputed queen of the berry world. The magical aroma and exquisite flavor of their juicy fruits are universally loved. It's impossible to find anyone completely indifferent to this delicious delicacy.
Strawberries are good for your vision, brain, skin, and joints; they cleanse the body of toxins, lower blood pressure and sugar, and optimize metabolism. And the best part: taking this beneficial "medicine" is pure pleasure. After all, all the vitamins, microelements, and antioxidants they contain are packaged in a delicious shell.
To cherish the warm summer for as long as possible, juicy berries are preserved in compotes, jams, preserves, and jellies, and, of course, frozen. Later, in winter, frozen strawberries can be used to create a multitude of delicious treats, such as kissels, jellies, soufflés, and, of course, pies. Proper freezing preserves the berries' maximum nutritional value and precious flavor.
A simple solution
Any pie made with strawberries, even frozen ones, automatically acquires the status of an unrivaled dessert. Many cooks value simplicity, so the first recipe is quite simple, requiring:
- 1 cup flour;
- 50 g butter;
- 3 eggs;
- ¾ cup sugar;
- 1 teaspoon baking powder;
- 300 g frozen strawberries (defrost, drain liquid).
The cooking process is extremely simple:
- Using a mixer, combine room-temperature butter, sugar, and eggs. Add flour mixed with baking powder and a pinch of salt. The consistency of the dough should be similar to thick sour cream.
- Prepare a baking dish: grease with butter and sprinkle with semolina.
- Pour half the batter into the pan and arrange the berries on top. Top with the remaining mixture and bake in the oven for about 40 minutes at a standard baking temperature of 180 degrees Celsius. Check for doneness with a wooden toothpick.
Cool the freshly baked strawberry pie and decorate it with powdered sugar. Simple, delicious, and incredibly flavorful!
Strawberry strudel
Of course, this isn't a classic strudel, but rather a variation on the theme, since it uses ready-made dough. But that doesn't make the pie any less of a pie. And, most importantly, unlike its "academic" counterpart, it doesn't require any special culinary training.
In general, ready-made puff pastry is a great lifesaver in many situations. Now it will help you create a wonderful strawberry pie. For it, you will need:
- packaging of puff pastry (yeast-free);
- 300 grams of frozen strawberries;
- 1 cup of sugar;
- 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs;
- 1 tablespoon of starch;
- yolk (to grease the product before baking).
Step-by-step recipe:
- To make this pie, remove the bag of strawberries from the refrigerator ahead of time. Place the berries in a colander to drain any excess juice. The dough should also be defrosted at room temperature.
- Carefully, to avoid tearing the inner layers, roll out the dough directly on a sheet of parchment paper (this will make it easier to transfer the dough to the baking sheet). Grease the sheet with vegetable oil and sprinkle with cornstarch (this will prevent the dough from leaking during baking, ensuring the pie bakes through).
- Now, layer the prepared dough with strawberries mixed with sugar and breadcrumbs, leaving a 3-centimeter border on three sides and a 10-centimeter border on the fourth. Fold the narrow edges over the filling, then roll the strudel into a roll and place it on a baking sheet. Brush the surface with egg yolk. You can make two rolls, one from each layer of dough.
- The preparation is complete. It's time to bake the pie in the oven, preheated to 180-200 degrees Celsius, for about half an hour. It may take a little longer (every oven is different). One thing is certain: you need to watch carefully during baking to prevent burning.
That's all there is to it. The most tender and aromatic strawberry strudel is ready. Before serving, generously dust it with powdered sugar.
This pie is amazing hot, with a scoop of ice cream and coffee. It's just as good cold, though. Tested: Homemade Strawberry Baking – is always an absolutely win-win option!
Bon appétit and enjoy the excellent desserts!
