Baked pumpkin with apples, or how to make a low-calorie dessert
You can bake almost all fruits, berries, and vegetables in the oven, depending on your own taste preferences. But if you think about the maximum health benefits that can be obtained from this, then, of course, pumpkin baked with apples comes to the fore.
This friendly tandem is extremely rich in nutrients essential to humans, especially potassium, which protects the heart muscle. Apples are also very rich in it, but pumpkin is a true champion of the plant world in terms of this micronutrient accumulation.
Eating pumpkin can improve the health of the nervous system and internal organs, as well as boost metabolism and blood formation. While we could go on and on about the undoubted health benefits of this fruit, it's time to move on to recipes for cooking it in the oven.
To begin with
First, let's explore the simplest, yet most delicious, baking option. It requires half a kilogram of pumpkin and apples, a cup of sugar, and a little cinnamon:
- Peel the pumpkin and cut it into small cubes. Then do the same with the apples. Mix them together, sprinkling them with sugar and cinnamon.
- Line an oven-safe dish with foil, transfer the prepared pieces to it, and seal them tightly on all sides. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20 minutes. Serve the fragrant dish in bowls and sprinkle with pine nuts. Simply stunning!
A little differently
You can also deliciously bake pumpkin in the oven using another recipe. To enhance the flavor of this simple dish, you'll need to add a few extra ingredients:
- 800 g pumpkin;
- 4 apples;
- 50 g butter;
- ½ cup of sour cream and raisins;
- 2 tbsp. honey;
- a handful of pumpkin seeds;
- cinnamon (1 tsp);
- semolina or breadcrumbs.
The technology for preparing the dish will change slightly:
- Dice the pumpkin and lightly sauté with butter and a couple of tablespoons of water in a frying pan. Sprinkle an oiled baking dish with breadcrumbs (or semolina).
- Rinse the raisins and slice the apples. Place the prepared pumpkin in a baking dish, cover with raisins, and top with a layer of apples.
- For the filling, mix sour cream with honey, cinnamon, and chopped seeds. Pour the mixture over the pumpkin-apple base of the dessert. Bake in the oven for half an hour, preheating to 220 degrees Celsius.
That's it—the dish is ready. Serve the dessert garnished with a scoop of ice cream. This delicacy is wonderfully aromatic, delicious, and incredibly healthy—a real three-in-one treat! Enjoy!
