Vol-au-vents with fruit filling
Vol-au-vents are a great appetizer for any occasion. They're incredibly simple to make, yet incredibly delicious! Many people are accustomed to filling them with meat, fish, or vegetables, for example. But today, I suggest baking vol-au-vents from puff pastry and stuffing them with juicy fruits and citrus. This filling option makes a wonderful substitute for a sweet dish. The combination of crispy pastry and fruit makes for a light and healthy treat!
Ingredients
- puff pastry – 300 g
- egg – 1 pc.
- vegetable oil – 1 tbsp.
- for filling: orange – ½ pc., grapefruit – ½ pc., kiwi – 1 pc., banana – ½ pc., honey – 1 tbsp. l.
Method of preparation
Since we'll be using ready-made dough, we'll need to defrost it first (about 1 hour). Then, on a floured surface, roll it out into a half-centimeter-thick pancake. Cut out a circle from the larger glasses, and use a smaller object, such as a lid, to make an indentation inside the larger circle.
Place the raw pieces on a baking sheet lined with paper and lightly greased with vegetable oil.
Brush each vol-au-vent mold with beaten egg yolk. Place in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius. Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
Peel and dice the grapefruit, orange, kiwi and banana.
Place the chopped fruit in a bowl and add a spoonful of honey. Stir until the honey dissolves.
Add fruit filling to finished vol-au-vents.
Anyone can enjoy this delicious and healthy treat! Make some fruit vol-au-vents for your family and guests!
