Apple envelopes made from puff pastry
Content
Surely every housewife has a package of ready-made puff pastry waiting in the fridge. Well, that time has come if you have a few apples left over and you're eager to spoil your family. After all, you can make anything you want from puff pastry with apples: strudel, pies, roses and a lot of other delicious things.
These treats don't require much time or effort: half an hour to prepare and about the same amount to bake. But your family will certainly appreciate the results.
Puff pastry apple envelopes
To make fragrant and crispy apple pies, yeast puff pastry is ideal. However, it's not necessary. In addition to the package of dough, you'll need:
- 4 - 5 apples;
- 1 tsp cinnamon;
- 3 tbsp lemon juice;
- 2 tbsp. sugar;
- 30 – 50 g butter;
- egg (for greasing).
The preparation is as follows:
- Peel and dice the apples. To prevent them from browning, sprinkle with lemon juice. Melt the butter and sugar in a frying pan, add the apple pieces, sprinkle with cinnamon, and fry for 3 minutes.
- While the filling is cooling, roll out the thawed yeast dough and cut into squares. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each square and secure the dough into a pocket.
- Fill a baking tray lined with baking paper with the pies, brush them with egg and place them in the oven for 20 minutes, preheating the oven to 200 degrees.
As they bake, a delightful apple-cinnamon aroma will fill the entire apartment. And the finishing touch: powdered sugar. It will give these already delicious envelopes a special elegance and appeal.
Apple roses
Puff pastry with apples can easily be transformed into stunning roses. This dessert is easy to make and looks stunning. The ingredients are almost the same:
- puff pastry - packaging;
- 3 – 5 apples;
- 4 tbsp. sugar;
- 250 ml of water.
Preparation:
- For this recipe, you don't need to peel the apples. Simply core them and slice them thinly.
- Make the syrup: Bring water and sugar to a boil. Add apple slices a little at a time to the syrup and simmer for a couple of minutes. Place the cooked apples in a colander to drain off any excess syrup.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2-3 mm and cut into strips the same width as the apple slices. Sprinkle the dough with sugar and line each strip with apples, skin-side down, leaving a small gap at the bottom.
- Form flowers by rolling the strips into a roll. Pull the bottoms of the "buds" together and slightly straighten the "petals." Place the roses on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes at the same temperature (200 degrees Celsius).
The finished "flowers" are beautiful as is, but you can enhance the effect by dusting them with powdered sugar. An original and very unusual dish!
