Microwave Apples: Quick, Easy, and Delicious
Content
Not everyone knows, but baked apples in the microwave are not just a tasty treat, but also a dietary dish, very useful for both healthy people and those who have stomach problems.After all, due to various circumstances, some people cannot eat fresh fruit, but baked fruit is allowed, and even recommended. This applies to those with digestive or intestinal issues, as well as breastfeeding women.
Despite the apparent simplicity of this dish, recipes vary widely, each with its own unique twist. To ensure a richer flavor, microwaved apples are cooked with honey, dried fruit, and spices. Discover the most popular and delicious recipes for this dish below.
Baked apples with cinnamon, vanilla and honey
Thanks to this common yet delicious combination of two spices, the apples will acquire a very piquant flavor and incredible aroma. And honey will add the necessary sweetness. So, for them we will need the following ingredients:
- 4 apples;
- 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon;
- 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar;
- 4 teaspoons of honey.
Before describing the recipe, it's important to mention which apples are best for baking. As for the variety, there's no specific preference. However, the condition of the apples plays a role. Avoid apples that are too soft, bruised, or rotten. These apples may fall apart during baking, and the most delicious part—the filling and juice—will leak out. Green or overly firm apples should also be avoided, as they may remain hard. Therefore, when choosing apples, it's important to find the golden mean.
So, here's the preparation. First, wash the apples thoroughly. Naturally, there's no need to peel them. Then, without cutting them, carefully remove the cores, creating indentations in the centers of the fruit. Fill these indentations with honey—a teaspoon in each—then sprinkle ¼ teaspoon of vanilla sugar, and then a teaspoon of cinnamon. Mix these spices with the honey in the apple cavity. That's it: the last step is to bake the apples in the microwave. We do this for five minutes. Yes, such a short time is enough for the fruit to bake and form a delicious caramel inside.
Apples with dried fruits
Of all the recipes, this one is definitely one of the most delicious thanks to the combination of all the ingredients. For it, prepare the following:
- 5 apples;
- a handful of dried apricots;
- a handful of raisins;
- a handful of walnuts;
- 2 tablespoons of honey.
As you might have guessed, the highlight of this recipe is the dried fruit and nuts. First, we'll prepare them. Wash the raisins and dried apricots, then place them in a bowl and cover with hot water. Let them sit for about five minutes. Meanwhile, chop the nuts. It'll taste even better if you lightly dry them in the oven beforehand. Wash the apples and core them, just as in the previous recipe.
Next, chop the slightly soaked dried apricots and raisins, mix them with the nuts, and place this mixture into each apple cavity. Spread a generous amount of honey on top of each apple. Cook the apples for the standard time—five minutes.
As you can see, the principles for preparing this delicious and aromatic dessert are quite similar. Therefore, we won't give you a bunch of similar recipes. Based on these two, you can vary the fillings, adding various toppings, spices, and other fruit pieces to the microwaved apples.
