With the advent of the internet, cooking dishes from other countries has become much easier than before, when recipes were passed down from generation to generation and collected from friends and acquaintances. Today, people from different countries can exchange recipes for their traditional dishes, and it no longer seems impossible to cook something that is eaten even on the other side of the world. But not everyone enjoys sweet tofu or sticky rice cakes, so we offer you more similarly flavored national sweets – German desserts.

The sweets Germans are accustomed to are similar to what we make, but there are still differences that will make these sweets new to you. The first dessert is a cross between a pudding and a kissel. It's a light and refreshing pudding that can be served with vanilla custard or whipped cream.

  • Cherries - 200g.
  • Raspberries – 200 gr.
  • Red currant – 300 gr.

Recipe:

  1. Wash the berries, remove stems from the currants, and pit the cherries. You can use frozen berries; thawing them isn't necessary; you can lightly sauté them in a blender.
  2. Place the berries in a saucepan, add sugar and half the juice, and set over medium heat. Bring to a boil and reduce the heat.
  3. Dilute the starch with the remaining juice and pour it into the hot berry mixture in a thin stream. Stirring well, simmer over low heat for another 3-4 minutes, then turn off the heat and let the pudding cool.
  4. Once the dessert has cooled sufficiently, transfer it to attractive glasses and place in the refrigerator, after covering the tops of the glasses with cling film.
  5. Just before serving, remove from the refrigerator and garnish with whipped cream. You can substitute ice cream or vanilla sauce.

This simple recipe is sure to please all lovers of puddings, jellies, and kissels. For those who prefer baked goods, we offer another German dessert recipe. This time, it's buns, but not quite your typical ones.

Recipe:

  1. Preheat the oven to 25-30 degrees Celsius. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in the microwave, then mix it with milk.
  3. Sift the flour, add sugar, vanilla, yeast and salt.
  4. Add butter and milk to the resulting dry mixture and mix with a mixer until smooth.
  5. Add eggs to the dough and continue beating at low speed for about 10 minutes.
  6. Then we put the dough in a warm oven for about 40 minutes to 1 hour.
  7. Let's move on to the filling. Mix the pudding with sugar and 1/5 of the milk. Mix thoroughly to avoid lumps.
  8. Pour this mixture into a heavy-bottomed saucepan, add the remaining milk, and set over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken. Turn off the heat and let the pudding cool.
  9. Remove the dough from the oven, place it on a floured surface, knead it slightly, and then roll it out into a layer about 1.5 cm thick. Increase the oven temperature to 190-200 degrees.
  10. Spread the pudding evenly over the rolled out dough, then carefully roll it into a roll and cut the roll into pieces about 4 cm wide.
  11. We distribute all the pieces on a baking sheet at a small distance from each other and put them in the oven for 25 minutes.
  12. While the buns are baking, prepare the glaze. Heat the milk in a small saucepan, add the powdered sugar, and stir well. Heat for 5-7 minutes, then turn off the heat and let cool slightly.
  13. The finished, but still hot, buns will need to be coated with the resulting glaze, after which the baked goods will need to be left to cool.

A delicious and unusual dessert is ready! Bon appétit!
