Crumbly cookies that can be made using a meat grinder are most likely a Soviet-era recipe. This way, you can save a significant amount of time making excellent homemade cookies. You don't even need to buy special attachments (although they are available). Simply use a meat grinder, remove the blade, and insert a medium-sized hole grid.

In short, even a man with no culinary skills or a child seeing a cookie recipe for the first time can make these cookies. And they'll turn out truly delicious.

The advantage of these cookies isn't just that they save a significant amount of time. It's not even that they look so cute (they initially resemble "octopuses" and can be shaped into any shape). The technology itself is great because by passing the dough through a grid like this, we ensure the future cookies are super crisp.

The cookies can be shaped in a variety of ways. You can leave them in a "vermicelli" shape, slightly rounding the edges. Many housewives roll them into the shape of chrysanthemums (flatten one edge to create a bud). And if you want to make a rose, flatten the bunches on both sides and smooth out the inside.

What makes these cookies distinctive is the dough itself. The recipe falls into the shortcrust pastry category. While the non-grinder version requires a strict 1:1:2 ratio (sugar/butter/flour), the "grinded" version requires a stiffer dough. Here's the recipe:

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 g butter or margarine
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • A packet of vanilla, optional.

The manufacturing process is also unique. If we're putting the cookies through a regular or electric meat grinder, we'll prepare the dough like this:

  1. Mix eggs with sugar, add baking powder and, if desired, vanilla.
  2. Melt the margarine and mix it with the egg mixture (the recipe for standard shortcrust pastry calls for grated frozen margarine, but if you plan to use a meat grinder, then proceed as directed).
  3. Add flour and knead the dough.
  4. Take a baking sheet, line it with parchment paper and, pinching off pieces of dough, roll them through the wire rack without a knife directly onto the baking sheet (cutting off the “sausages” with a knife).
  5. That's it, put the cookies in the oven, preheated to 200. The baked goods will be ready in about 20 minutes (depending on the characteristics of your oven).

When choosing such a simple baking recipe, many people encounter the problem of the "snakes" that emerge from the grinder sticking together. This is nothing to worry about. You can gently separate the sticks with your fingers, dusting them lightly with flour to prevent them from sticking together.

But even if you can't do this, you can lay out the snakes in long ribbons and cut them after baking. The key is to do this while the cookies are still hot. After a few tries, you'll be able to twist the "vermicelli" into real flowers!
