Beer-Baked Brushwood: A Classic Step-by-Step Recipe

In a mixing bowl, pour 150 ml of light beer, a pinch of salt, 50 grams of sugar, and 2 grams of vanilla (on the tip of a knife). Stir thoroughly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth.
Add 30 grams of melted butter and mix the ingredients again until smooth.
Sift the flour and add it in parts to the liquid ingredients, kneading the dough.
First, knead with a spatula or spoon, and then, when the dough thickens, use your hands. The resulting dough should be firm yet elastic and not sticky (as in the photo).
Divide the dough ball into two parts.
Roll the first half into a thin crust. The thinner you roll the dough, the crispier the beer-based хворост will be.
Cut the cake into rectangles. You can use a regular knife or a decorative knife. A decorative knife will create a beautiful wavy edge, as shown in the photo.
Make a longitudinal cut in the center of each rectangle. You can then shape the хворост into a classic shape, or fry it as flat rectangles. Regardless of the shape, the хворост will be crispy and delicious.
Heat vegetable oil in a saucepan or deep frying pan and fry the brushwood on both sides until it is a beautiful golden color.
After removing the crisps from the oil, don't place them directly on a plate, but first place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Once the paper has absorbed the oil, transfer the crisps to a plate and dust with powdered sugar.
