It's known that as early as the 18th century, Greek dignitaries were served sweet dough fried in vegetable oil. This dish, called Dipless, is extremely popular today not only in its homeland but also in many countries around the world. However, each culture has contributed its own ingredients to the recipe for crispy хворост (xvorostiki), хворост (hvorost), urama (or rama), verguny (or verguny), sochen (or sochen), krebel (or krabel), and so on.
Today, we'll take a closer look at another popular recipe and learn how to make sweet, fluffy хворост (brushwood) with condensed milk at home.
The dessert is prepared quickly and very easily.
-
Condensed milk200 G
-
Flour400 G
-
Egg C13 pcs
-
Baking powder0.7 tsp
-
Salt1 pinch
-
Vegetable oil200 ml
-
Powdered sugar50 G
In a mixing bowl, crack 3 eggs (whites and yolks). Add a pinch of salt and 200 ml of condensed milk, and whisk until smooth.
Mix the baking powder with the flour and sift it into a bowl in several stages. You can use a spatula to stir the dough at the beginning.
Finish kneading by hand on a silicone mat, achieving a thick, smooth consistency. The dough should not stick to your hands and hold its shape, as shown in the photo.
Roll out the dough, cut it, and shape it into a хворост, choosing the design of your choice. When choosing a baking shape, keep in mind that the dough will expand during frying, while the хворост will be fluffy and soft.
You can fry the condensed milk-based хворост (brushwood) directly in the frying pan. Use enough oil to submerge the dough, as if deep-frying, and flip each piece of dough over to brown both sides.
The finished condensed milk dessert can be sprinkled with powdered sugar before serving.
You can make this fluffy хворост even more delicious and unusual by adding additional ingredients to the dough:
- cinnamon;
- lemon or orange zest;
- cocoa;
- chocolate pieces.
We also suggest trying a special and unusual dessert using this recipe. To prepare, divide the dough into three parts and add dark cocoa to one part.
Roll out three layers and stack them on top of each other, placing the chocolate layer between the two white layers. Use a rolling pin to press the layers together.
Cut the dough into squares and shape them into "ears" or classic "brushwood" shapes. You can also simply fry the squares for a fun tea-time cookie option.
Fry the dough in a generous amount of oil in a frying pan, then drizzle with honey. It turns out incredibly delicious!
