Basil lemonade

Classic lemonade with the addition of basil is very easy to prepare, yet incredibly tasty and invigorating. In order to do This summer drink will take no more than 15 minutes, but then you can enjoy its amazing aroma and taste.

Grate the zest of two or three lemons to taste. Use only the outer part of the peel, being careful not to cut the white veins, which impart bitterness.

Place the basil in a blender. Add 50g of sugar. Blend the ingredients until smooth. To make this easier, you can add a little water or lemon juice.
Pour the remaining sugar into a saucepan and add water (200 ml).
Place the mixture over the heat and bring to a boil until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat.
Add lemon zest to the syrup and let it steep.
Add grated basil and lemon juice to the cooled lemon syrup.
Strain the infusion through a sieve. Let the liquid steep for about an hour.
Dilute the lemonade with sparkling water or regular water. Add ice and garnish with leaves. mint.

Storing basil
There are several ways to store basil:
- Pour water over the leaves (or, preferably, branches with leaves) and store in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Change the water in the container every 2-3 days. The plant will retain its properties for up to 2 weeks.
- To increase the shelf life to 3-4 weeks, place the basil in a container with water (glass or jar), close the container with an airtight lid or cling film, pressing its edges tightly.
- Regan can be stored in the freezer. Use an ice cube tray: place one or more basil leaves in each well and fill with water. These cubes can be added to tea, soup, or lemonade.
