Pastila can be made from any fruit or berry jam or puree. The only requirement is that it must be seedless. To ensure the dessert is elastic and doesn't break easily, use a smooth jam without berries or large fruit pieces, or puree it in a blender.

If you want the healthiest pastila, make it from "five-minute" jam. This jam has more nutrients and less sugar.

Transform ordinary jam into an unusual and interesting treat. Use the prepared pastila as a natural candy and also to decorate cakes and pastries.

  • Jam (any)
    1 l
  • Water
    as desired
  • Sunflower oil (odorless)
    1 tbsp
Preparation

Step 1

Prepare the jam. Pastila can be made from any fruit or berry jam, regardless of the amount of sugar it contains.

Step 2

Assess the condition of the jam. If the jam is old, it may have thickened and crystallized during storage. In this case, add a little water and stir well.

Step 3

Blend the jam with an immersion blender until smooth. The blender will help break up any lumps of sugar and finely chop the berries or fruits used in the jam.

Step 4

Prepare the tray. To do this, grease it with a small amount of odorless sunflower oil. If the tray is not greased, the finished pastila will be very difficult to separate from the base; it may tear and lose its attractive appearance. You can also line the trays with parchment paper, which should also be greased with sunflower oil.

Step 5

Spread the jam in a thin layer over the tray. Try to make it thin and even enough so that the pastila dries evenly across the entire surface.

Step 6

We put pallets in a dryer for vegetables and fruitsDry for 8-10 hours. Cooking time depends on the jam itself, the thickness of the layer, and the characteristics of your dehydrator. The finished pastila should not stick to your hands.

Step 7

Cut the pastila into small pieces with scissors and form into rolls. Serve with tea, coffee, or as a standalone treat.

Adviсe

  • To make the pastila cook faster, spread the jam in as thin a layer as possible.
  • Be sure to grease the tray well with sunflower oil or line the baking sheet with silicone-coated parchment paper. This will prevent the pastila from sticking and will allow it to peel off easily after drying.
  • The pastila's readiness is checked by touch. The finished treat should not stick to your hands.
  • Store the finished treat in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, in a glass or plastic container, or wrap it in parchment paper.
  • The refrigerator isn't suitable for storing marshmallows. They quickly become damp and spoil there.

Making jam pastila is simple, quick, and fun. Be sure to treat your loved ones to this delicious dessert!
