Preparation

Step 1

Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Pour the whites into a clean, dry container, preferably metal.

Step 2

Add the sugar substitute to the whites and beat them with a mixer until fluffy and white, about 5–7 minutes.

Step 3

Next, beat the yolks until they lighten slightly and become foamy.

Step 4

While continuing to beat the yolks, add the vegetable milk to them.

Step 5

Combine the remaining dry ingredients for the dough and sift them through a sieve into the yolks. Mix the dough.

Step 6

Gradually add the whipped egg whites to the dough and mix gently with a spatula so that the egg whites do not fall.

Step 7

Peel and chop the apples. Chop the nuts at the same time.

Step 8

Spread a small amount of dough on the bottom of the pan. Then add the apples, sprinkle with nuts, and spread the remaining dough on top. Bake the charlotte in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes.

Step 9

Let the cake cool and carefully remove it from the pan. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or coconut. It's ready!

Are you on a diet, watching your diet, but missing your favorite baked goods and desserts? Who said you have to sacrifice your favorite dishes while losing weight? Simply modify them and adjust them to your standards. Healthy lifestyleReduce calories, reduce carbohydrates, and add healthy fat-burning ingredients.

On the "Lena PP Confectioner" YouTube channel, I found a great, delicious, and quick video recipe for a classic apple charlotte pie with a healthy twist. This pie is just as good as its "big brother," and in many ways, even better! It's just as delicious and tender, but without the added sugar and the health benefits.

Possible replacements

You can substitute brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup for the sweetener. If the apple variety you choose is sweet enough, you can omit the sweetener altogether.

You can use any plant-based milk in the charlotte—rice, coconut, almond, or oat. Unfortunately, these ingredients are quite expensive, so not everyone can afford them. The most budget-friendly option is regular boiled water. Of course, the pie will taste less creamy.

You can substitute any gluten-free flour for rice flour. If you don't have any gluten-free flour at home but want to make a healthy charlotte, you can grind oatmeal into flour. Use a blender or coffee grinder.

How to bake a charlotte?

It's recommended to bake the charlotte in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for approximately 20-25 minutes. Baking time depends on many factors. First, the thickness of the charlotte. A smaller amount of dough will rise and bake more easily in that time. Second, the characteristics of your oven. If your oven doesn't heat well, it will take longer to bake.

To prevent the pie from burning, be sure to line the pan with parchment paper. You can also place a container of water in the oven.

Making a healthy charlotte is very easy, as it requires simple ingredients and very little time. Don't miss the opportunity to delight your family with a delicious and healthy baked good!
