Place the butter in a bowl, add the sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt, and beat until smooth.
Add eggs, baking powder, and sifted flour to the mixture. Mix until the dough is smooth.
Wash and core the apples. Reserve half of one apple and slice the rest into thin slices. You can sprinkle the apples with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
Add chopped apples to the dough and mix everything thoroughly.
Line the pan with parchment paper. This will allow the pie to easily release from the sides and bottom of the pan. Pour the apple batter into the pan.
Cut half the apple into thin slices. A vegetable peeler is the easiest way to do this.
Place the apple slices on top of the dough, pressing them down slightly. Sprinkle the top with sugar to create a nice caramelized crust.
Place the pie in a preheated oven to bake at 180°C for 30-40 minutes.
