Dry apple jam with cinnamon in the oven

Dried jam is more reminiscent of individual candies than the traditional filling for cakes and sandwiches. It can be given to children as a healthy alternative to sweets or added to baked goods, porridges, and compotes when you want to add a unique apple flavor to your dishes.

Dry apple jam with cinnamon in the oven
Ingredients
Servings
  • Apples
    3 kg
  • Sugar
    900 G
  • Citric acid
    2 tsp
  • Cinnamon
    1 tsp
Preparation

Step 1

Cut the apples into 1-1.5 cm slices and place them on a baking sheet. Mix the sugar with citric acid and cinnamon, sprinkle the mixture over the apples, and mix with your hands.

Step 2

Place the baking sheet in the oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius and bake for 20 minutes. Remove and drain the resulting syrup.

Step 3

Place the slices on a mesh or cheesecloth, spaced apart. Hang them on the balcony for 2 days to dry completely.

Step 4

The dried apple jam is ready. Store in natural fabric bags, airtight glass jars, or cardboard boxes at room temperature.

Use a dehydrator
You can significantly reduce the time spent on the final drying process. Instead of letting the apples dry naturally, you can place them in an electric dehydrator and dry them at 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit) in just an hour or two. This method is especially useful if autumn rains have started and it's very damp outside.
