We begin preparing the dessert by washing and peeling the pumpkin, removing the skin and seeds.
Cut the prepared pumpkin into pieces.
We'll be making fairly large portions. You can cut the mixture into smaller cubes if you prefer.
Place the pumpkin in a saucepan with a thick bottom and add 500 grams of sugar.
Add your favorite oriental spices (in the photo we are making the classic version with cardamom).
Cut a circle out of parchment paper to fit the diameter of the pan and cover the pumpkin for at least 2 hours to release the juices.
When the pumpkin has released enough liquid, place the pan on the stove over low heat and gradually bring to a boil without removing the parchment (no need to cover with a lid to prevent excess moisture from forming).
Simmer the pumpkin over low heat for 1 hour. Then remove the pan from the stove and let the pumpkin cool naturally, continuing to soak in the sweet syrup under the protection of the parchment paper.
Pre-roast the nuts in the oven at 170℃ (until golden brown and a characteristic aroma appears) and chop.
Place the Turkish-style pumpkin pieces on a plate and sprinkle with nuts.
Turkish-style pumpkin baked in the oven is equally delicious. We suggest trying one of the variations of this sweet treat, following the step-by-step recipes in the video:
