In a bowl, beat the eggs with both types of sugar until the mixture becomes lighter and fluffier. Then add the butter and mix until smooth.
Add the sour cream and whisk quickly. Add the cottage cheese and mix. If the cottage cheese is grainy, first pass it through a sieve or blend it with an immersion blender. If it's tart, add another 2-3 tablespoons of sugar.
Sift flour into a bowl, mix with baking powder, and add to the curd mixture. Knead until smooth and uniform.
Roll it out on a work surface into a thick sausage and divide it into a dozen equal parts.
Shape each piece into a slightly flattened ball, then use a small cookie cutter or your fingers to cut a hole in the center. Once ready, place the pieces on a baking sheet lined with silicone parchment.
Brush the donuts with warm milk and bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 25 minutes.
Let the donuts cool until warm and dust with powdered sugar. Place orange or other jam in a disposable pastry bag and spread it into the holes.
The cottage cheese donuts are ready. Tender, flavorful, and less greasy than fried ones, they'll be a hit with both kids and adults.
If you'd like to spice up the recipe a bit, you can add any citrus zest, even lime zest, or chocolate shavings, raisins, candied fruit, or finely chopped dried fruit to the dough. And don't forget about spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and other favorite additions will create a whole new palette of flavors for the dessert.
