Preparation

Step 1

Cut the apples into medium-sized pieces, peeling and placing them immediately in the pan. You can also slice them or chop them into small pieces if desired.

Step 2

Weigh the sugar and add it to the pan. Let it sit for 2 hours or overnight until the juices are released.

Step 3

Place the pan over medium heat and bring to a boil, but do not boil. Reduce the heat to low. Stir until the syrup coats the beans evenly.

Step 4

We pick apples from the bubbling area and place them in jars. Place the pieces gradually to ensure the jars warm up and don't burst. Then, evenly spread the remaining syrup over the top. Twist, turn over, and wrap in a blanket or thick towel.

Step 5

The Antonovka jam is ready. Put it away in your usual place for storing preserves.

Roll up small portions
Even if you have several buckets of Antonovka cherries at home, it's best to preserve them in small, half-liter jars. Once opened, they should be eaten quickly, otherwise the jam will go sour.
