We sort the Chinese apples, remove the leaves, but leave the stems on, trimming them with kitchen scissors if necessary. Rinse the apples in a bowl and place them in a saucepan.
Sprinkle with sugar and add water. Place on the stove and heat over low heat.
As soon as the sugar begins to melt, begin stirring from the bottom up so that it does not accumulate on the bottom and evenly covers the Chinese dish.
Once the sugar has dissolved, stop stirring and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes. Skim off any foam halfway through the cooking time with a spoon or by placing paper towels on the surface.
As soon as the apples are evenly heated and soaked in the amber syrup, turn off the burner.
The "Five-Minute" Chinese cherries jam is ready. Transfer it to an airtight jar and seal.
