Preparation

Step 1

Cut the apples in half, remove the seeds and stems, then cut each piece in half. Place everything in a bowl, add the chokeberries and sugar. Let sit overnight or for 5-6 hours.

Step 2

After 2 hours, stir so that the fruits and berries are well distributed among themselves and thoroughly soaked in juice.

Step 3

Place over medium heat, bring to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes. Don't overcook to ensure the apples and chokeberries retain their natural flavor and color.

Step 4

We put the rowan-apple jam into sterilized jars.

Chokeberries are berries with a thick skin that somewhat resemble apples in appearance. They can and should be washed before cooking. Furthermore, chokeberries withstand heat well and retain their shape without becoming overcooked. This makes the jam look very attractive.
