Cut the apples into quarters, remove the seeds, and slice them crosswise, not into wedges. Slice the oranges into rounds, remove the seeds, and divide them into segments. Peel the lemons, cut them into rings, remove the seeds, and divide into pieces. Slice the last lemon with the peel. Layer the apples, oranges, and lemons, sprinkle with sugar, and then repeat the layering. Cover with a plate and let sit overnight.
Place the pan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 3-5 minutes. Be sure to pour the boiling syrup over the pieces that float to the surface to ensure they are evenly heated. Let sit until completely cooled, allowing the syrup to soak in.
Return the pan to the heat and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15 minutes over medium heat, then add the chopped walnuts. Press them down gently with a spoon. Bring to a boil and cook for about 5 minutes. Let cool completely, but do not cover.
Place on low heat, bring to a boil and simmer until thickened.
The apple and walnut jam is ready. Pour it into sterilized jars.
