Frozen pitted cherries

Cherries can and should be preserved. In the freezer, the berries retain their full flavor and color. They remain juicy and as nutritious as fresh ones. With this recipe, you'll be able to remove each berry individually and defrost only the amount needed for a given recipe.

Preparation

Step 1

Rinse the cherries under running water and drain in a colander. Then remove the stems.

Step 2

Take a toothpick and break it in half to use the thicker part. Insert it into the cherry and push the pit through the stem. You can use a pin, special tools, or any other method you prefer.

Step 3

As you pit the cherries, place them on a plate or board covered with plastic wrap. Freeze overnight.

Step 4

We put it in containers or bags, mixing it with frozen whole cherries if desired.

Why don't confectioners use cherries?
Unlike cherries, sweet cherries have very little aromatic substance in their pulp. Therefore, cherry desserts will never be as tasty. But they are still a healthy and sweet berry, rich in vitamins and microelements. So, they are definitely worth preserving for the winter.
