Frozen chokeberries
Chokeberries, also known as aronia, have a distinctive flavor. They're rarely used as a stand-alone ingredient. However, they're a wonderful vitamin supplement and a great way to add variety to your everyday dishes. So, be sure to grab at least a couple of sprigs of aronia for freezing during the season.

We wash the rowan berries, stems and all. Remove any debris and damaged berries.
Pick the berries and arrange them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. If you plan to preserve whole berries, place them in the freezer and freeze them. Then transfer them to containers for further storage.
To freeze the puree, place the berries and sugar in a blender. Blend until smooth, tilting the blender to avoid any unprocessed berries. Adjust the amount of sweetener according to your preferences and the taste of the chokeberry.
Transfer the puree to a container, trying to fill it almost to the top. Freeze.
