Frozen whole red currants

Preparation

Step 1

Wash the currants and let them dry completely before freezing. Remove any stems.

Step 2

Place the berries into 2-3 plastic bags.

Step 3

Fold each bag in half and, without pressing, spread the currants into an even layer. Be sure to release any excess air to prevent the currants from turning into ice.

Step 4

We transfer the mixture into another bag and leave it in the freezer for 4-6 hours.

How to remove currants from branches?
Picking each berry individually takes time. There's also a high risk of crushing some of the berries by accident. The easiest way is to use a regular fork and, like a comb, pick the currants off the branch in handfuls.
