Two-color "Zebra" on kefir
Content
Zebra cake with kefir – this is a delicious and easy to prepare dessert. If you want to impress your guests not only with the taste of your baked goods but also with their visual appeal, then this recipe is for you. The cake's pattern resembles zebra stripes, alternating chocolate and white stripes, hence the cake's name.
This effect is achieved through the unique distribution of different colored dough in the baking pan. This kefir-based dessert recipe is easy to make. Despite its simplicity, the cake itself is nutritious and can easily serve as a dessert spread.
The zebra dessert recipe includes: 3 eggs, one glass of sugar, one glass of kefir, three glasses of flour, 150 grams of butter or margarine, half a teaspoon of soda, two teaspoons of cocoa, vanillin.
Preparing the base - option 1
There are two ways to make kefir dough. Pour the kefir into a bowl and add baking soda. Let them sit for about five minutes. Separately, mix the sugar with melted butter or margarine. Then add the eggs and vanilla. Beat everything with a mixer. Then add the flour and knead. The dough should be thicker than pancake batter.
Preparing the base - option 2
You can also make kefir dough the other way. Beat the sugar, eggs, and a pinch of salt with a mixer until a white, creamy consistency forms. While following the recipe, don't neglect to add salt; it will help eliminate the unwanted eggy odor.
Then add the kefir and oil, a pinch of salt, and a little water. Whisk again. Sift the flour and add the kefir mixture and vanilla. Knead until smooth. Divide it into two bowls. Add cocoa powder to one of the bowls.
Then pour half the batter into another bowl. Add cocoa powder to one of the resulting portions and mix it in.
How to make a zebra?
The zebra dessert recipe contains a secret: alternately spreading different colored dough on a baking sheet to create a striped visual effect.
So, take a baking sheet or other baking pan and grease it with vegetable oil. Now pour the batter into the pan, first the white, then the chocolate, and so on until the pan is filled. It's easy to spoon the batter out, then use a knife to draw circles in the shape of a snake. By the way, a zebra pattern isn't the only one; you can create a pattern like a spider web or camouflage—it's all up to your imagination.
Place the filled cake pan in the oven and bake for a little over half an hour at 180-200 degrees Celsius. To check if the cake is done, pierce it with a match or toothpick; it should come out clean. Let the Zebra cake cool before removing it from the pan.
The finished cake can be left unadorned, and at first glance, it will live up to its zebra name. Alternatively, you can drizzle the cake with chocolate icing, but in that case, guests will only notice the stripes when cutting into it.
