Fruit sponge cake or a trip to the hot tropics
The word "biscuit" itself comes from the Italian "biscotto," meaning "baked twice." This word is used to describe a confectionery "bread" made from sugar, eggs and flour. For over five hundred years, this recipe has been considered one of the most universal, as it combines health benefits and exquisite taste.
Sponge cakes are featured in the national cuisines of many countries around the world. If you look at the photo of the finished dish, you'll realize you've tried this delicacy at least once, at least when your mom made you apple charlotte. In this article, we suggest baking a sweet and healthy dessert to go with your tea: banana sponge cake with chocolate.
Chocolate banana sponge cake
This recipe will help you create a very moist and soft dessert with a strong chocolate-banana flavor. Banana sponge cake is a very filling treat, and a small piece will be enough to energize you for the whole day. Moreover, bananas have a positive effect on skin and heart health. The fruit normalizes blood pressure, promotes the release of the happiness hormone, and increases sexual desire.
To prepare such a tasty and healthy treat, you will need the following ingredients:
- Two whole eggs;
- One hundred twenty milliliters of milk;
- One hundred twenty milliliters of vegetable oil;
- About two hundred and fifty milliliters of warm water;
- Two large soft bananas, pre-mashed with a fork;
- Four hundred grams of sugar (or sugar substitute);
- Two hundred forty five grams of flour;
- About seventy grams of cocoa;
- One and a half teaspoons of baking powder;
- One and a half teaspoons of soda;
- Half a teaspoon of salt;
- A packet of vanillin.
The proportions provided are suitable for a pan with a diameter of twenty-one centimeters. A definite plus is that banana sponge cake is very easy to make and doesn't require much time. The recipe requires only two cooking steps.
First, mix all the dry ingredients together, then add the remaining ingredients. This only requires two bowls. Banana sponge cake rises very easily, and creating the classic look in the photo doesn't require any special culinary skills. You can easily skip the mixer altogether, mashing the bananas with a fork and whisking the ingredients together with a regular whisk.
Once you've whisked all the ingredients listed in the recipe, pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture and mix thoroughly. The resulting dough should be slightly runny and very viscous. Don't let the dough rest; pour it into the pan immediately after making it. Line the pan with parchment paper or grease it with a little butter.
To bake, preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (180 degrees Fahrenheit). The recipe calls for 35 to 40 minutes, but to prevent the dessert from drying out, check it with a match after about 25 minutes. As long as crumbs of dough stick to the match, the cake isn't ready yet. If you think the cake isn't done yet, but the top is starting to burn, you can cover it with foil.
The recipe ends here, but serving is up to your taste. You can top it with chocolate icing or squeeze some pressed dessert cream over it. The cake doesn't have to be served whole. You can divide it into "cakes" and garnish with mint sprigs, caramel, and fruit pieces (banana, strawberry, peach). As you can see, the recipe is simple, and our banana cake is ready for a pleasant tea party with friends and family.
