How to make Zebra more tender using kefir?
In an age where almost all the sweets we eat are store-bought, it's more satisfying than ever to try something homemade. Even if you're not a culinary expert, you can still bake a sweet dessert yourself. We offer you a very simple recipe for an exotic-looking dessert. It's a cake called Zebra, or rather, a variation of it. The recipe will use kefir dough, which will make the cake very tender.The stripes, visible when cutting into the finished dessert, add an exotic touch to the Zebra dessert. Delicate Zebra cake
Ingredients for the base:
- Eggs – 3 pcs. (large).
- Butter – 150 gr.
- Sugar – 200g.
- Kefir – 200 ml.
- Flour – 400 gr.
- Vanillin – ½ packet.
- Baking powder – 1 packet.
- Salt - 2 pinches.
- Cocoa – 15 g (unsweetened).
Ingredients for the glaze:
- Butter – 100 gr.
- Cocoa - 25g (unsweetened).
- Sugar – 70 gr.
- Vanillin – ¼ packet.
Cooking process
Base recipe:
- We increase the oven temperature to 180 degrees.
- Melt the butter and mix with sugar and salt.
- Add eggs and begin to beat lightly.
- Add kefir and vanillin, continuing to stir.
- Next, add baking powder and sifted flour to the kefir-egg mixture and mix thoroughly. The batter should be about the consistency of pancake batter, or slightly thinner.
- Divide the resulting dough into two parts. Mix cocoa into one part.
- Place 5 tablespoons of white batter in the center of a prepared baking pan. Place 4-5 tablespoons of brown batter directly on top. Continue placing the batter in the same order, gradually reducing the number of tablespoons.
- Once all the dough is in place, bake the pan for 45 minutes. When the baking time is almost up, use a matchstick or toothpick to check that the pastry is done.
- Turn off the oven and open the door slightly to let the base cool.
- Once the oven has cooled down, take out the pan and remove the base from it.
Glaze recipe:
- Place a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat and add the butter. Once it's partially melted, add the remaining ingredients.
- Stir until the mixture becomes homogeneous and the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Place the base on a plate and pour the glaze over it so that it evenly covers the entire cake.
The magnificent kefir cake, Zebra, is ready! When you cut it, Zebra will be a hit, and thanks to the kefir-based formula, it won't be dry; on the contrary, it'll be divine.
