For many, the cake called "Curly Boy" is associated with childhood memories.Its recipe is quite unusual, combining sponge cake layers and meringue with a surprisingly delicate cream. The dessert gets its name from the shape of the dough, which features small bumps decorated with chocolate and egg whites. Let's try making this unusual treat together.
Curly cake
The recipe includes the following basic products:
- 3 eggs;
- half a kilo of sour cream;
- a glass of sugar;
- 3 cups flour;
- a tablespoon of cocoa;
- half a teaspoon of soda with vinegar.
The cream recipe requires:
- a liter of sour cream;
- a glass of sugar.
To prepare the glaze, take:
- a bar of dark chocolate;
- 50 grams of cream.
Once all the ingredients are collected, you can begin.
How to cook?
- Make the sponge cake layers. Beat the egg and sugar thoroughly until thick and fluffy.
- Add soda and sour cream to the egg mixture.
- Gradually add flour, kneading the dough until it becomes homogeneous.
- Divide the dough into two parts, where one part will make up two-thirds of the total volume, and the other one-third.
- Add cocoa to one third of the total dough mass.
- Bake the sponge cake layers in the oven for 15 minutes each at 180 degrees.
- Once the cake layers are ready, cut one of them (the lighter one) into equal-sized cubes (approximately 3 x 3 cm). Let the sponge cake cool while you prepare the cream.
- Chill the sour cream in the refrigerator beforehand. For the "Curly Boy" cake, it's best to use full-fat sour cream.
- Add sugar to it and stir well until it dissolves.
- Dip the biscuit cubes into the sour cream and let them soak for one and a half minutes.
- Place the cubes on the chocolate cake layer to form a mound.
- Now let's make the glaze. Melt the chocolate over low heat, then pour in the cream and stir.
- Take a teaspoon of icing and pour it in a thin stream over the cake, forming “curls”.
Recipe for cream and dough with condensed milk

The "Curly Lad" dessert can be varied by adding certain ingredients. For example, you can top the chocolate cake with grapes or banana slices. Any fruit will do, whatever your taste.

- 200 grams of sour cream;
- half a can of condensed milk;
- half a teaspoon of soda;

- Pour in the condensed milk.
- Add flour and stir until you get a sticky dough, as in the photo.
- Place the dough in the refrigerator.
- After two hours, remove the dough from the refrigerator and divide into two parts.
- Add cocoa to one of the parts and bake the sponge cakes at 180 degrees.

There are a few more cooking subtleties that the recipe recommends following:
- It's best to refrigerate the sour cream for 20 minutes before using. This will allow it to thicken slightly and prevent it from dripping off the cake.
- Before baking the cakes, the pan must be greased with butter to prevent the dough from sticking.
