Cakes come in all shapes and sizes. Some look beautiful in photos but taste completely bland. And then there are the opposite: a heavenly-tasting cake, but the presentation is a disaster. Is it possible to achieve both exquisite taste and original presentation? Our dessert perfectly combines these two qualities. The Vulcan cake really does look so good that you'll want to take a photo and show it off to your friends. It tastes amazing, and the recipe is incredibly simple. Let's test this recipe.

Sweet "Volcano"

Ingredients for the base:

  • eggs – 2 pcs. (large);
  • butter – 200g;
  • sugar – 180 g;
  • baking powder – 0.5 sachet;
  • flour – 500-600 g;
  • vanillin – 1/3 teaspoon (optional);
  • nuts – 150 g (your choice);

Vulcan Cake 2

Ingredients for cream and glaze:

  • sugar - 200-250 g;
  • sour cream – 700 g (15-20% fat);
  • vanillin – 0.5 teaspoon (optional);
  • dark chocolate – 100 g.

Base recipe:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in the microwave. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla and mix until smooth.
  3. Add baking powder and sifted flour to the mixture. Knead the dough thoroughly until it's thick enough to form cookies.
  4. Roll the dough into a ball, wrap it in a plastic bag or film and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.
  5. Let's prepare the nuts - check that there are no shells among them.
  6. We take out the dough, roll it into a medium-sized sausage and cut it like for dumplings, only larger.
  7. Place a nut or a piece of nut about the size of a fingertip in the center of each circle, seal the edges, and roll the dough into a ball, then flatten it slightly. Do the same with the remaining dough.
  8. Place the future cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, then cool.

Cream recipe:

  1. Mix sour cream, sugar and vanilla in a deep bowl.
  2. Beat all ingredients at medium speed until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Design and decoration

Vulcan Cake 3

  1. Place the cookies on a cake plate, dipping each one in sour cream. Arrange the cookies in a mound or volcano shape (hence the name of this recipe).
  2. If there is still sour cream left, carefully pour it over our Vulcan and put it in the refrigerator for 7 minutes.
  3. Break the chocolate into pieces and melt it in the microwave (removing and stirring it every 30 seconds to prevent burning) or in a small saucepan with a thick bottom over the lowest heat (stirring continuously to prevent burning).
  4. Once the chocolate has acquired a liquid consistency, we take out our cake and pour chocolate glaze over it so that it flows evenly from all sides and is distributed throughout the entire "Volcano".
  5. Now all that's left is to let our dessert sit and soak. Ideally, you'll give it 6-8 hours.

The Volcano cake, with its unusual name, is ready! Take a photo of your finished product and don't forget to show it off to your friends—they'll surely appreciate the unique and original look of this sweet treat and ask for the recipe! To make the process even easier, you can modify the recipe and buy ready-made cookies with nut filling, and if desired, replace the sour cream and sugar with fruit yogurt. Don't be afraid to experiment, add your favorite ingredients, and enjoy the delicious taste of the Volcano cake!
