Banana Cake: The Charm of a Delicate Dessert
Content
No one will argue that the highlight of any holiday meal is the cake. It brings the celebration to a logical conclusion and crowns the occasion. And surely every family treasures their grandmother's or mother's recipe for making festive baked goods for special occasions. Now's the time to remember them—after all, homemade cake is undoubtedly the most coveted. And if it’s also banana-based, the hostess is guaranteed to be delighted and adored by her guests.
What's so great about banana dessert?
It's simple: light, almost airy, with an indescribable, refined aroma and taste, this banana dessert awakens dreams of southern countries and adds a special exotic flavor to any holiday.
A banana is a ready-made dessert in itself. It's exceptionally sweet, and the consistency and taste are reminiscent of a delicate creamy soufflé. Children simply love the banana flavor. And women especially appreciate another quality of this amazing fruit: it promotes beauty: it effectively combats puffiness, slows the aging process, and eliminates wrinkles.
The beneficial properties of this yellow fruit make it an indispensable part of anyone's daily diet. It's no secret that bananas can successfully replace antidepressants, as they increase serotonin production, dramatically improving mood.
Perfect harmony
A cake is a celebration in itself. And if you bake a banana cake, not a regular one, the positive emotions will be significantly greater. The imagination of those who prepare a banana surprise at home is limitless: you can endlessly improvise with both the ingredients and the cake's shape.
It's worth noting that this recipe uses almost no oil, which means you won't feel guilty about having "one more slice." To bake a delicious and elegant (as pictured) banana cake topped with hazelnuts, you'll need:
- melted butter (100g);
- flour (130 g);
- baking powder (1.5 tsp);
- eggs (3 pcs.);
- sugar (120 g - the recipe allows the use of a sugar substitute);
- vanilla (1/3 pod);
- bananas (very ripe – 2 pcs.);
- butter (50 g);
- chocolate (preferably dark – 150 g);
- cream (2.5 tbsp);
- chopped hazelnuts (150 g).
Baking a delicate banana dessert isn't all that difficult. Just follow the step-by-step instructions, and the recipe described here will live up to your expectations, and the cake will turn out as beautiful as the photo:
- Start by making the banana puree. A blender is the easiest way to do this, as it provides the necessary creamy consistency.
- Next, set the oven to 175 degrees Celsius and turn it on. This is important because mixing all the ingredients for the dough doesn't take long, and the finished banana mixture shouldn't be left exposed to the air for long. Ideally, the end of the prep work should coincide with the oven being fully preheated.
- The banana cake starts with the dough. First, mix the baking powder with the flour (a pinch of salt will only improve the flavor).
- Next, beat the eggs and sugar until foamy, stirring in the vanilla. Then, combine the egg mixture with the melted butter and flour. Add the flour and butter alternately, mixing thoroughly until creamy.
- The recipe recommends combining the prepared mixture with the bananas at the very end. A blender or mixer will help create the perfect consistency (without lumps).
- It's time to pour the mixture into a greased pan, which the recipe recommends preheating slightly so that the oil coats it completely.
- Now all that's left to do is place the future banana dessert in the oven on the bottom rack for 50 minutes. The dough is quite light, so this baking time is plenty. However, all ovens heat up differently, so it's a good idea to test the cake's doneness with a wooden toothpick (it should come out clean). Once the cake is done, refrigerate it.
- Meanwhile, you can prepare the glaze: melt the butter and chocolate in a saucepan. At this stage, the recipe recommends not stirring the mixture—it should melt slowly. Finally, add the cream—and only then can the melted chocolate be stirred in. Allow the finished chocolate fudge to cool completely.
- Once the freshly baked cake has cooled completely, cut it in half. Frost the bottom half, place the top half on top, and finally, generously coat the entire cake on all sides with the remaining frosting.
- Decorating is the final step in creating a confectionery masterpiece. Chopped hazelnuts are sprinkled on top and along the sides of the cake. They sit easily on the soft chocolate glaze.
This delicate, juicy banana dessert is ready. Its subtle banana flavor, intertwined with the classic combination of chocolate and nuts, adds a special charm.
No-bake banana cake
However, to make a delicious banana dessert, you don't necessarily need to resort to baking. The photo shows a quick and original dish that you can surprise your loved ones with. The recipe calls for a rather unusual combination of ingredients: kefir, cream, and banana muesli.
Banana jelly cake is quite competitive even against its more substantial creamy counterpart – it’s surprisingly light, delicious, and, what’s more, not too high in calories.
To make it, you will need a springform pan (of any configuration) and a set of products:
- 3 bananas;
- cornflakes and muesli (1 cup each);
- white chocolate – 250 g;
- 500 g kefir;
- 250 g sugar;
- 200 ml cream (35% fat);
- gelatin – 40 g;
- vanilla sugar – 1 tsp;
- 1 packet clear cake jelly (optional).
Recipe:
- Prepare a springform pan: line it with cling film. Cut two bananas into small pieces.
- Melt the chocolate. The recipe recommends doing this in a double boiler. Stir it in the cornflakes and muesli. Spread the mixture on the bottom of the pan – the cake base is ready. Now it needs to be temporarily refrigerated.
- Pour cold water (about half a glass) over the gelatin. Leave to swell.
- Add sugar and vanilla to kefir and stir until completely dissolved. Beat the cream with a mixer until creamy.
- Dissolve the gelatin in a double boiler (do not boil!). Mix the sweetened kefir and whipped cream, and gradually pour the gelatin into the mixture, stirring constantly.
- Remove the mold, pour the mixture onto the base, then randomly scatter the fruit pieces. Refrigerate the mold until the jelly mixture has completely set (about three hours).
- You can stop at this stage and simply decorate the cake with banana slices and grated or melted chocolate before serving. But to achieve true perfection, a little more work is required. Specifically, arrange banana slices over the surface of the set cake (as shown in the photo), mix the jelly (instructions on the package), and pour it over the banana design. Refrigerate for another hour.
- Now all that remains is to remove the dessert from the springform pan and serve.
An elegant, elegant, and original treat is ready. This recipe allows for making this jelly treat with berries other than bananas. However, this version is the most delicious!
