For those who don't have time to make regular strudel
Content
A homemade strudel is undoubtedly worthy of praise. But everyone understands that sometimes there's simply no time. There are a number of reasons for this: work, children, unexpected guests, and even just plain laziness on a weekend. Therefore, for those who love delicious strudel, but cannot cook everything from A to Z on their own, there are many ways to shorten the cook's path and prepare strudel in a slow cooker. This way the recipe won't be distorted too much.
First, find some puff pastry in your freezer or at your local store. Luckily, this isn't a problem these days. The dough needs to be defrosted naturally and rolled out thinly. This will save you 1-1.5 hours of time preparing this dessert.
Your Redmond multicooker, or any other multicooker, will serve you as a clean and fast miracle oven, baking a wonderful pie for the whole family. So, if the dough is ready, you can proceed to the next steps.
What do you need to prepare it?
To make a delicious and balanced slow-cooker strudel, you'll need something you already have in your fridge. Below is an extensive list of ingredients you can use to wrap a slow-cooker strudel, and you can choose the right ingredients based on your preferences and budget. Incidentally, these ingredients also pair beautifully together:
- Apples;
- Raisin;
- Pear;
- Banana;
- Cinnamon;
- Sour cream;
- Lemon;
- Sugar;
- Any nuts;
- Seedless grapes;
- Mango;
- Strawberry;
- Kiwi;
- Cherry;
- Cranberry.
This isn't a complete list of what you can wrap in a Viennese strudel roll, but at least you'll have something in your cold drawer.
Advice:
Hard fruits and berries, like apples and pears, are best peeled completely and simmered in a pan with sugar for 5-10 minutes to allow them to absorb the sugar syrup and soften. However, as the saying goes, there are those who prefer crisp, sugar-free berries. Others might prefer to warm the apples in honey syrup, add lemon juice, and season with cinnamon. Raisins can also be soaked in rum infusion beforehand.
What to do with the dough?
Puff pastry tends to puff up a lot in the oven. We don't want that today. That's why we'll melt the strudel dough in the slow cooker and roll it out as thinly as possible.
It's best to spread the dough on a thick, clean kitchen towel. You can wet the towel and wring it out thoroughly. This will help you easily peel the towel away from the dough when you roll it out.
Filling
It's best to spread the filling on the dough sheet 10-15 cm from the edge to prevent the roll from falling apart and losing its shape during rolling. Spread the fruit pieces thinly and evenly across the sheet. Don't be stingy, no matter how delicious the recipe seems.
When you start rolling the apple strudel into a log, you'll see for yourself that it's packed full of fruit. For a slow cooker, it's best to roll the strudel into a horseshoe shape, otherwise it simply won't fit into the pan.
In the Redmond multicooker, baked goods cook in up to 30 minutes. This is enough time for the strudel to bake to perfection, delighting your guests with a pleasant aroma and surprisingly delicate flavor.
