Cottage Cheese Pie: Cooking in a Slow Cooker
Content
A homemade pie is always a welcome dessert. However, novice cooks are daunted by the labor-intensive nature of its creation. But that was the case in the past. Now, with 21st-century kitchen appliances like the Redmond multicooker, the cooking process has lost its former tediousness. Now, for example, you can bake a cottage cheese pie in a slow cooker exceptionally easily: simply, quickly, and with a guaranteed excellent result.
Why cottage cheese?
The choice of this fermented milk product for the base of this dessert is obvious: firstly, it's delicious, and secondly, it's very healthy. Even those who aren't big fans of cottage cheese in its natural form love cottage cheese baked goods, and as a source of calcium, this product is unrivaled.
You can, of course, buy cottage cheese at the store, but why not make it yourself? Especially since the Redmond multicooker is always ready to help. All you need is 1 liter of kefir (the fattier the better) and half an hour. The result is 200 grams of the most tender and delicious homemade cottage cheese, which you can use however you like. For example, you could try a new recipe: bake an original version of the classic "Zebra" cheesecake.
Curd and chocolate zebra
The alternating white and dark stripes give this marble cake a unique elegance. The Redmond multicooker makes it easy to create this marvel whenever you want. The cake takes about two hours to make, with the multicooker doing most of the work. Even a novice cook will only need 30 or 40 minutes to prepare the "blank" of the future cake. Afterward, you can relax and entrust the baking of your dessert to this smart appliance.
Any cottage cheese pie made in a slow cooker always turns out incredibly tender. And if you enrich it with additional flavors, the result will be simply stunning. An interesting variation on "Zebra" is a combination of cottage cheese and chocolate. The recipe is simple, and the ingredients are basic:
- butter - 100 g (dough);
- dark chocolate - 125 g (dough);
- flour - 125 g (dough);
- baking powder - 1 tsp (dough);
- sugar – 225 g (in the dough – 125 g, in the filling – 100 g);
- 3 eggs (2 for the dough, 1 for the filling);
- vanilla sugar – 1 packet (half each – in the dough and in the filling);
- cottage cheese - 250 g (for filling);
- 1 tbsp semolina (for filling);
- a pinch of salt.
This is how to prepare chocolate-curd pie in a slow cooker:
- Melt the chocolate and butter together. This can be done in the microwave or in a double boiler.
- Beat eggs with sugar (regular and vanilla). Mix with chocolate butter.
- To complete the dough formation, combine the flour with baking powder, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the egg-butter mixture. Mix thoroughly.
- To ensure a smooth filling, the recipe recommends straining the cottage cheese through a sieve. It's a bit of a hassle, no doubt, but the result is worth it: the filling becomes creamy. After that, add sugar, eggs, semolina, and vanilla.
- The dough and filling are ready. All that's left is to grease the pan and form the pie. The recipe suggests doing this using the "zebra" principle: alternating the chocolate dough with the curd mixture.
- Now you need to load the pan into the Redmond, program it for baking and set the timer first for 60 minutes, then for another 25.
- Remove the finished pie only after it has completely cooled. Now, take it out onto a beautiful plate and transfer the curd-chocolate "Zebra" onto it. The marbled dessert is ready and waiting for guests!
Cottage cheese and apple pie
Cottage cheese pairs perfectly not only with chocolate but also with fruit. So next up is a cottage cheese pie made in a slow cooker with apples. Its recipe is quite simple, meaning you can make it as often as you like. And when you get tired of the apple flavor, it's easy to replace it with something like banana, pear, or pineapple.
So, the ingredients for cooking:
- 1 large apple;
- 320 g flour;
- 200 g each of cottage cheese and butter;
- a couple of eggs;
- 100 g sugar;
- baking powder - 1 tsp.
Recipe:
- Chill the butter thoroughly (you can keep it in the freezer for half an hour). Grate it coarsely into a large bowl, add the flour mixed with baking powder, add half the sugar, beat in the egg, and knead all the ingredients into a dough. Refrigerate for half an hour.
- Peel the apple, grate it, and combine with the cottage cheese and remaining sugar. Beat the second egg with a mixer.
- Spread 2/3 of the dough over a greased multicooker bowl. Spread the filling on top and cover with the remaining dough. Brush the top layer with beaten egg.
- Place the bowl back in the Redmond, set the "Bake" mode for exactly one hour, and wait for the results. The delightful aroma of apples will waft from the kitchen all this time! One caveat: serve any curd-based baked goods chilled. Enjoy your tea!
