The delicate flavor of strawberry or raspberry jelly brings back childhood memories. But sometimes you just want to experiment and make something unusual. An original coffee jelly dessert will decorate any table. The recipe is quite simple, and this sweet dish will not leave any gourmet indifferent.

Selecting ingredients

Making a stunning dessert is very simple. But for it to be truly exceptional, it's best to use real coffee. This recipe also calls for bagged or instant coffee, but the effect won't be the same. Without the real thing, the dessert's aroma and rich colors will be lost.

For the dessert itself, it's best to use granulated gelatin as a base. You can also use sheet gelatin, which sets faster. After three hours of waiting, you can enjoy the dessert.

The process of preparing dessert

The first step to successful preparation is brewing delicious, strong coffee as directed. It's best to do this in a Turkish coffee pot, then let it steep. Afterward, be sure to strain it to prevent grounds from contaminating the dessert.

Meanwhile, pour the milk into a saucepan and place it on the heat. Add the sugar, gradually bringing the milk to a boil. Once the sugar has completely dissolved, turn off the heat and begin making the gelatin.

It's important to dissolve the gelatin in a separate container to prevent lumps. You can pour boiled water into a cup, but make sure it's lukewarm. Then pour in the gelatin and stir thoroughly. The gelatin in the cup should be completely dissolved using a double boiler.

Add coffee to the warm milk and stir thoroughly. Add the gelatin, which has already dissolved in the water bath. Pour the finished coffee jelly into appropriately shaped glasses. Clear bowls are ideal, but silicone molds with various patterns also work well. Once completely set, this delicious dessert is ready to enjoy.

Recipe with instant coffee

If you're not a fan of natural coffee or simply don't have any on hand, you can use instant coffee. Here's another recipe for a sweet treat. For this one, you'll need the following ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp instant coffee
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 10 g of gelatin
  • 2 tbsp. l. condensed milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 pinch of vanillin
  • 300 ml of water.

How to cook?

It's best to work on the gelatin first. To avoid lumps, you can dissolve it in warm water (1 cup at room temperature) and let it sit for 20 minutes until it's fully swollen. Stir it occasionally.

Mix the main ingredients—coffee, sugar, and egg yolk—in a deep bowl. Then add warm water (about 70 degrees Celsius) and mix thoroughly. Remember, this contains the yolk and shouldn't curdle. Therefore, add the water gradually and mix quickly. Then pour in the condensed milk and add the vanilla.

Once the ingredients are mixed, pour in the gelatin and, using a mixer, blend until smooth. Pour into glasses, and after a maximum of 1.5 hours, you can serve this dessert to your guests. Your coffee jelly is ready.

As you can see, the recipe is simple. Preparing this dessert doesn't take much time. So, you can make it whenever your mood strikes or if unexpected guests drop by. And if you garnish the jelly with cream or fruit, this recipe will become your signature treat, perfect for surprising your friends. Crushed nuts or chocolate chips also work well as garnish.
