Jelly-based desserts
Content
Jelly originated in France. The French have always been known for their refined taste and love of delicacies. Therefore, their chefs approached every dish with particular creativity, perfecting and transforming long-tested recipes. Beginning with the preparation of a special type of jam, more like a jelly-like mass, they developed an entire technology for creating new desserts.
Jelly-based treats quickly captured the hearts and stomachs of the accommodating French gourmets. Soon, jelly desserts were being made all over the world. Today, jelly recipes are passed down from generation to generation, from one nation to another. Their popularity grows every year.
Fruit and curd treat made from jelly
Multilayered jelly has always been considered the most delicious by both children and adults. Moreover, one of the layers was always milk-based, as its flavor softened the acidity of the fruit layer. Recipes for making jelly are usually quite simple. For example, to make this fruit and curd dessert, you'll need:
- 250 g of cottage cheese, 100 ml of milk, two tablespoons of honey, one tablespoon of gelatin and a pinch of vanillin (for the first layer of jelly);
- 200 g of cottage cheese, 100 ml of milk, seven medium strawberries (frozen ones are fine), three tablespoons of honey and a tablespoon of gelatin (for the second layer of jelly);
- two tangerines and one banana.
Place the sliced bananas in the bottom of a suitable glass bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice. Add the diced mandarin oranges, peeled off the membranes. Separately, blend the cottage cheese, honey, milk (boiled but cooled), and vanilla. Gently heat the gelatin, soaked in water, until completely dissolved and then combine with the milk-curd mixture. Whisk and pour the resulting mixture over the prepared fruit. Refrigerate for a while to allow the first layer to set.
The second layer can be prepared immediately. After all, jelly-like curds are usually similar in consistency to cream. The finished jelly portions are best sprinkled with grated chocolate mixed with glazed flakes. In the photo, this dish looks simply aristocratic.
Kiwi Jelly Cake
The most popular jelly dessert recipes almost always feature fruit ingredients. The highlight of such a dish can be not only real raisins or other dried fruits, but also fresh or frozen, familiar and exotic, real fruits. For some reason, recipes that always include banana, pineapple, mango, or kiwi have become particularly appealing to residents of our country. Jelly cakes made with kiwi are incredibly delicious! This cake requires no baking, and to make it you will need:
- 300 g of shortbread cookies, 100 g of butter and 20 g of chocolate (for the cake base);
- 100 g of Kiwi jelly and two large ripe kiwis (for the fruit filling);
- 300 g of 30% sour cream, 250 g of milk, 150 g of sugar, 20 g of gelatin and two grams of vanillin (for the milk filling).
After cutting the kiwis into wedges, steep them in boiling water for about 15 minutes. During this time, you can prepare the fruit jelly according to the recipe on the package. After the berries have steeped, remove them from the water and pour the jelly over them. Refrigerate until completely set.
Meanwhile, crush the cookies into crumbs and mix with melted butter. Line the bottom of a springform pan (like a cake pan) with parchment paper and pour the mixture into it. Refrigerate the pan with the cake base.
Once the jelly has set, prepare the sour cream filling. Bring the milk almost to a boil and dissolve it in the gelatin. Whip the sour cream with sugar and vanilla. When the milk has cooled sufficiently, add it to the sour cream, stirring constantly.
Now, after briefly soaking the container of jelly in hot water, release the jelly cake onto the shortbread cookie base. Top with sour cream filling and return to the refrigerator. Once the cake has cooled, you can sprinkle it with grated chocolate and add small pieces of kiwi. The photos of this cake are simply magnificent, as is its taste.
