Compote jelly is a rather original dessert, which will bring a lively atmosphere to the table when it appears on the table. Despite its magical appearance and superb taste, jelly is very easy to make, requiring very few ingredients. This dessert is quick to prepare for the holiday table and will delight both children and adults.

A simple recipe, a variety of ingredients used in its preparation, a diverse range of colors, and a unique appearance place jelly on par with other popular and beloved treats. The English are credited with pioneering the dish, creating pudding—a dish similar in quality to the delicacy. Originally, the dessert was made from dairy products and had a consistency more reminiscent of glue. To set the dish, the English used natural pectin—a gelling agent derived from meat and fish scraps.

In its modern form, jelly originated with Americans in the mid-19th century, who created a powder from fruit pulp and gelatin that instantly turned into a thick, jelly-like mass when water was added. Over time, chefs around the world appreciated the taste of this dessert, developing recipes for making it with fruits and berries.
